Shipping Clerk

This position will be based at our Hampton Farms location in Franklin, VA.

Pay range: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour

Job Purpose

The shipping personnel of Hampton Farms is involved in the manufacture of food products intended for the consumer. This individual needs to have an overall understanding of receiving practices, shipping practices, loading / unloading material or product. They must know the location of each storage facility, inspection techniques, final product disposition, storage, proper packaging and labeling used at Hampton Farms. Being a producer of peanut butter, the individual is aware of risks involved with regard to proper packaging, unloading and loading techniques (not damaging product, raw material, or packaging supplies), proper storage, forklift and trailer safety. They must maintain a clean and sanitary warehouse environment and must be familiar with the activity on the production floor to react if a crisis arises.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ship confirm completed orders, create daily ship sheets, and prepare all paperwork for Accounting
  • Schedule Customer Pick-up inquiries and maintain loading schedule
  • Assist Team Lead with preparing BOL’s, pick lists, export documents, and other shipping paperwork
  • Manage internal shipments to Jimbos Jumbo’s
  • Communicating and assisting truck drivers with paperwork for both inbound and outbound loads
  • Assist Logistics Manager with arranging transportation for inbound/outbound shipments.
  • Any other work assigned by Shipping Manager and Team Lead or other management including overtime when needed.
  • Have a functional radio on their person during their entire shift and answering when called by Supervisor, Team Lead, or any other Management.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma (GED) or equivalent required
  • SSOP for warehouse facility and forklifts
  • Forklift Inspection Form
  • Above average computer skills
  • Microsoft Word/Excel knowledge
  • Basic math skills & above average communication skills
  • Knowledge of Logistics/Transportation/Shipping
  • Willing to train and drive the yard truck

Certificates or Licenses

  • Forklift Certification

Job Physical Demands

  • Continuous standing in one location for long periods (2-3 hours before break)

Quality Lab Technician

Pay range: $17.00 – $19.00 per hour

Expected Hours: 36 – 48 hours

Essential Duties and Description: Must NOT be allergic to peanuts.

  • Verify with QA Supervisor or Processing Team lead what products are scheduled to be produced during the shift. Turn all paperwork into QA team lead or Supervisor.
  • Accurately completed all Quality reporting forms.
  • Responsible for performing both physical and analytical tests (sorting of reject peanuts and sorting into categories) as required to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • The employee will be responsible for visually inspecting peanuts and additional materials. Being able to visually identifying defects and dissimilar items is critical for this role.
  • Will be responsible for generating report forms, building files and labeling.
  • Assisting in leading all GMPs, and coaching others to the proper GMP.
  • Assist quality Supervisor or other team management in any task, forms, or paperwork that needs to be done as assigned.

Additional responsibilities (Food Safety): Have a general understanding of HACCP, SQF, operating procedures and Food Safety Sanitation Including the duty to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Other duties include the inspection of incoming materials and shipments of finished product. Follow sanitation schedule for weekends and clean breaks.

Quality Assurance Technician (3rd Shift)

Purpose

The role of a Quality Assurance Technician is critical to ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of our products. You will closely work with other team members to maintain high standards of product quality and consistency and be committed to deliver the best possible quality product to our customers and employees. The position is based in Severn, North Carolina.

Types of shifts:

3rd shift – 11:00PM – 7:00AM

Pay range: $16.00 – $17.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

Production Support:

1. Coordinate and verify with the Supervisor or Team Lead on what products are scheduled to be produced during that shift.

2. Conduct routine clean-break inspections, physical and analytic tests for moisture, brine salt content, sensory evaluations (visual, feel, smell, chew, taste), cracked and broken count, determine peanut grade by count, and color analysis products to ensure compliance and specifications have been met.

3. Collect product and environmental samples from various stages of production including elevated platforms that require climbing ladders

4. Maintain accurate records of all quality control activities including test results, production logs, inspection reports, and any other necessary documentation.

5. Identify quality issues or deviations from standards and work with production team members to address the root cause.

6. Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and testing instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.

7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including removing debris, spills, and disposing of waste materials properly.

8. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.

8. Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of tasks.

10. Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge related to packaging and food safety regulations.

11. Adhere to company policies and regulations regarding hygiene, dress code, and conduct in the workplace.

12. Other duties, as assigned.

Sanitation Support:

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Previous experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment is preferred but not required.

3. Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads, up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods on hard surfaces and climb ladders.

4. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.

5. Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

6. Possess math skills for calculating formulas and recording inventory.

7. Understanding of occupational and food safety protocols and willingness to follow all safety guidelines.

8. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
