Roaster Operator Assistant (2nd shift)

This position is based at our Hampton Farms location in Severn, NC.

Job Purpose

The Roaster Operator of Hampton Farms is involved in the manufacture of food products intended for the consumer. The operation and operator provide a critical step in Hampton Farms food quality and safety for producing our peanut product. Being a producer of peanuts and peanut products, the roaster operator is aware of the risk involved with regard to proper temperature, speeds, roasting color and other aspects of the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Verify with supervisor correct peanuts are being used, and Roaster log paperwork matches the Roasting Peanuts reports
  • Inspect machines and calibrates as required to ensure consistent operation
  • Ensure that machine is started and stopped to minimize maintenance and downtime
  • Initiate daily start-up procedures per company policies
  • Communicate with production line operators to maintain constant flow and correct peanuts
  • Maintain the correct temperature of the roaster, record the average temperature of the peanuts, belt speed, and bed depth to achieve the correct roast and color required for each customer
  • Record temperature readings each hour on Roasting log.
  • Turn in paperwork into Quality Assurance Department
  • Run a color check every hour on the roasted peanuts to ensure color meets customer requirements
  • Work with Quality Assurance Technician throughout shift to ensure CCP’s are within spec
  • Ensure the right peanuts for the production schedule are selected and roasted in spec.
  • Perform scheduled cleaning of roaster and roasting area
  • Maintaining constant vigilance for possibility of fire, through monitoring of all roasting operations
  • Perform weekly fire drills
  • Assist in control of fire as required and notification of proper authorities, as approved by management personnel
  • Help fellow employees in other work areas as needed
  • Do any other assignments ask of you by your Lead or Supervisor
  • Able to learn how to work with high and low PH chemicals such as alpet, proclean degreaser, Alkaline cleaner, and Steam cleaners for cleaning every other weekend

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Experience with food manufacturing Principles and implementation.
  • 1-3 years’ production manufacturing experience.
  • Must be able to work well both independently and collaboratively.

Production Manager

This position is based at our Hampton Farms location in Franklin, VA.

Pay Range: $95,000 – $125,000 per year

Purpose

To have an overall understanding of material and ingredient needs to ensure uninterrupted production through the facility. This position will report to the Plant Manager and will ensure product is produced efficiently at optimal cost and with the highest level of quality. Our new Production Manager will find a steady stream of process improvements to balance increasing plant efficiency while maintaining product quality and food safety standards. Essential Duties and Description:

  • Manage all aspects of Production including four Shift Supervisors
  • Support a companywide commitment to manufacture safe, quality, food and a plant wide commitment to safety. This position includes a heavy involvement in Customer, SQF and Organic Audits.
  • Engage and encourage employees across all departments and levels in the company to improve their individual performance and to grow their careers within the company.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and budgeting. Shows proactivity in looking for cost savings opportunities in order to meet individual and plant goals.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or related Production Management experience
  • Minimum of three years of leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment or five years of leadership experience in other manufacturing environments

Production Manager

Overview
The Production Manager will be responsible for the for the day-to-day operations of the raw department. Key areas of responsibility include planning and directing the daily operations, ensuring priorities and protocols are achieved, while managing people, cost effectiveness, quality, accuracy, and safety to all performance standards.

Pay Range: $75,000 – $100,000 per year

Responsibilities
· Lead, motivate, and supervise production staff, providing guidance, coaching, and training as necessary.

· Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

· Coordinate with the materials management team to ensure the timely receipt and availability of raw materials for production.

· Monitor production processes to identify bottlenecks, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operations.

· Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, efficiency, quality and safety.

· Drive initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.

· Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.

· Responsible for quick and timely feedback to Plant Manager on all exceptions regarding productivity, downtime, quality, yield, cost and safety, and managing the correction of areas which are out of acceptable parameters.

· Participate in department meetings in the planning process, along with the testing and development of techniques/processes.

· Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Human Resources for action.

· Review and enforce the Company’s food safety, quality and regulatory standards.

· Other duties as assigned.

· Works evenings and weekends as required.

Qualifications
– Proven experience working in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a managerial role
– Strong mechanical knowledge to oversee assembly line processes
– Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and operating machinery
– Ability to fabricate and assemble products according to specifications
– Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory management
– Experience working in a factory setting with knowledge of production equipment
– Forklift certification is a plus but not required
– Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Production Lead

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Production Lead to join our team in overseeing operations at our food processing plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the food industry and a solid understanding of FDA regulations and food safety standards.

Pay Range: $18.00 – $25.00 per hour

Responsibilities
– Supervise and coordinate production team activities to ensure efficiency and quality output

Job Purpose

The Shift Lead of Hampton Farms is involved in the manufacture of food products intended for the consumer. The Lead provides a critical position in Hampton Farms food quality and safety for producing our peanut products, being a producer of peanut products, the Lead is aware of risks involved with regard to maintaining Hampton Farms quality standards, proper packaging, proper labeling, all receiving and shipments are properly inspected, and all documentation is correct and accurate. The Lead is trained in various areas pertaining to the job required. This position will report to the Production Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead 10-20 employees per shift to ensure that all daily operations of the plant run smoothly
  • Assist with handling any employee issues, discrepancies, or misconduct among employees on your shift.
  • Monitor attendance of each employee on your shift to adhere to the Attendance & Point System Policy.
  • Monitor what products are running during each shift
  • Sign and verify all with quality supervisor and/or manager
  • Monitor paperwork by Operators (quality documents, metal detector sheets, roasting peanuts report, and weight check sheets)
  • Monitor incoming products such as raw peanuts, packaging materials, and ingredients
  • Help Quality Manager and Supervisor monitor HACCP, SQF requirements, operating procedures and Food Safety Sanitation.
  • Be able to determine if a product needs to be put on hold and document when product goes on hold or if product is reworked.
  • Maintain visual pre-operational sanitation inspections prior to beginning of the day’s production after clean break to ensure food safety.
  • Data entry skills to produce reports, build files, label printing, trend analysis and trend analysis reports.
  • Follow sanitation schedule for weekends and/or any other scheduled times
  • Help with internal audits (SQF, Food Defense, Chemical Audits, GMP audits).
  • Lift bags and/or boxes weighing as much as 50lbs.

Packer (2nd shift)

This position is based at our Hampton Farms location in Severn, NC.

Job Purpose

Each production line will have one designated machine operator and at least one designated packer. The machine operator is ultimately responsible for all activities at the production line they are assigned to. Person(s) in the packer position work under the direction of the machine operator for that station.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Always work in a safe manor.
  • Assist with set up as instructed by the machine operator. This may include any of the following:
  • Restock cartons
  • Set up carton printer
  • Sweep production area
  • Check that all surfaces and work area are clean and sanitized per GMP guidelines
  • When running, keep cartons supplied to yourself and the operator
  • Check weight and date print on bags against weight and date on production sheet.
  • Be sure weight on weight sheet is the same as listed weight on the production sheet.
  • Check weights on bags first run when starting up and tell the operator what they are.
  • Check weights on 3 bags every 30 minutes, tell the operator and record the weights on the daily weight sheets.
  • Scan bags for proper placement of top hole, weight and date stamp, print quality. Tell the operator of any issues.
  • Pack bags in cartons keeping up with production
  • Stack finished cases on pallet
  • Remove finished pallet to assigned area
  • Count finished cases to confirm operator’s count
  • Replace full pallet with empty pallet. Place cardboard on pallet when needed.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 0-2 years’ production manufacturing experience.

  • Regularly check and record bag weights, and inspect bags for quality issues, informing the operator as needed.
  • Pack bags, stack finished cases on pallets, and move finished pallets to designated areas, replacing with empty pallets as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment is preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic math skills for counting and recording inventory.
  • Understanding of safety and food safety protocols and willingness to follow all safety guidelines.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Bulk Line Operator (2nd Shift)

Production/Warehouse Associate

This position is based at our Meherrin location in Queen Anne, MD.

Job Purpose

  • Ensure seed is packaged and warehoused per customer request.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate seed treating equipment, packaging line, stretch wrap machine, and forklift.
  • Perform minor repairs and equipment upkeep as needed.
  • Assist in bulk seed receiving.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma (GED) or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in a production environment and/or warehouse preferred.
  • Team player
  • Great verbal and written communication skills

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid driver’s license

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced environment which may include exposure to dust and temperature fluctuations throughout the year.

Forklift Operator

This position is based at our Hampton Farms location in Springfield, MA.

The Company

Hampton Farms is the leading In-Shell Peanut Company in the US. We are also a leading producer of other types of nuts and nut butters for the retail and commercial markets. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe operating conditions.
  • Perform pre-operational checklist items.
  • Follow the Employee Health and personal Hygiene Requirements
  • Picks orders according to the Pick Sheet, records and compares Lot Numbers and quantities, pack and wrap pallets.
  • Verify customer orders to ensure quantity, quality, proper labeling and safe packaging.
  • Loading and unloading trucks.
  • Receive products, including visual quality inspection, compare and match all information on Packing Slip. Reports any damages / discrepancies to Manager.
  • Break down pallets and put product away in designated area, rotating stock for freshness.
  • Manage product inventory, including lot number traceability.

General Qualifications

  • Forklift Experience:1-year minimum
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Willing to learn and grow, work in other departments or on projects if needed
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working independently or as part of a small team
