This position is based at our Hampton Farms location in Portales, NM.
Purpose:
Picking Table employee of Hampton Farms is involved in the manufacture of food products intended for the consumer. The Picking Table employee provides a critical position in Hampton Farms food quality and safety for producing our peanut product. Being a producer of peanuts and peanut products, this employee is aware of risks involved with regards to maintaining Hampton Farms quality and food standards, and all documentation is correct and accurate. This employee is trained in various areas pertaining to the job required. The Picking Table employee must maintain a clean and sanitary work environment and must be familiar with the activity on the production floor to react if a crisis arises.
Pay Rate: $13.00 – $15.00 per hour
Essential Duties and Description: include the following though other duties may be assigned:
- Work in conjunction with all Hampton Farms team members supporting all areas of the facility.
- Partnering with other Hampton Farms team members in being committed to delivering the best possible experience to our customers and employees in support of our mission, vision, and values.
- Monitor what products are being produced on each shift.
- Communication with Roaster Operator when production is occurring.
- Participate in annual Foreign Material training, knowledge of what foreign material needs to be picked out of peanuts.
- Sit for extended period of time, analyzing peanuts moving across conveyor.
- Recognize foreign material to be removed from peanuts.
- Have an eye for detail and small objects moving quickly past you.
- Required to recognize if product coming off roaster(s) is the incorrect type of product.
- Immediately communicate with Roaster Operator if problem arises.
- In the event of excessive amount of foreign material occurs, notification to Roaster Operator and/or management team needs to occur.
- Communication with Production Manager if problem arises.
- Knowledge of incoming products (peanuts and flavors)
- Understand/knowledge of Raw peanut types
- Knowledge of Brine system.
- In the event of an emergency, location of emergency shut off switch.
- Knowledge of Dryer.
- In the event of an emergency, location of emergency shut off switch.
- Knowledge of Roaster(s).
- In the event of an emergency, location of emergency shut off switch.
- Knowledge of Distribution system. Disable alarm system when finished tank is reaching limit.
- Notify Roaster Operator in this event.
- Ensure roaster(s) is running properly to minimize maintenance and down time.
- Responsible to ensure no cross contamination of different product types
- Knowledge of sanitation standard operating procedures
- Position requires sitting for an extended period of time.
- Breaks are given every 2 hours to rest eyes.
- Motivate staff to make an effective and efficient team.

Quality Assurance:
- Knows and adheres to GMP Policy and all Quality policies and procedures
- Assists in identifying and/or reporting non-conforming product to aid in eliminating waste.
- ANYONE who is aware of a food safety/quality issue is to stop production immediately and inform Quality Assurance and their Manager or Supervisor of the food safety/quality issue(s) to determine whether or not product/materials should be placed on hold.
- Communicates daily with Production Manager and/or Quality Department to ensure customer specifications are met.

Additional Sanitation Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure all chemical containers are labeled and used in the correct way.
- Ensure overall compliance and adherence to sanitation schedule and/or requirements.
** If Picking Table employee is out, a trained responsible person shall be designated to perform the job. Packaging Machine Operator will be designee. If Packaging machine operator is unavailable Roaster Operator will only run 1 roaster, having coverage for that one roaster (there are two picking employees per shift). **
Education and Experience:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be willing to work overtime and weekends.
- Ability to clearly present recommendations/ideas and to summarize issues.
- Ability to appropriately handle and maintain confidential material.
Desired:
- Must be able to work well both independently and collaboratively.
Skills/Competencies:
- Second language (Spanish), a strong plus
