2nd Shift Production Supervisor

This position will be based at our Peanut Processors location in Elizabethtown, NC.

Shift type: 2nd – 3:30PM – 12:00AM

Job Purpose

The Production Supervisor at our PPE location will be involved in the manufacture of consumer-packaged goods. The Supervisor provides a critical position in the manufacturing quality and safety for producing our products. This position must be aware of the risks involved in maintaining our product quality standards, proper packaging, proper labeling, all receiving, and shipments are properly inspected, and all documentation is correct and accurate. The Supervisor is trained in various areas pertaining to the job required. This position will report to the Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with our team members in being committed to delivering the best possible product to our customers.
  • Supervise up to 25 employees per shift to ensure that all daily operations of the plant run smoothly.
  • Coordinates work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to maximize
  • productivity.
  • Work in conjunction with the manager for scheduling of production
  • Assign personnel accordingly to meet production goals
  • Maintain working knowledge of machine capabilities
  • Delivers or coordinates staff training and on-boards new staff.
  • Work with maintenance to keep equipment running at its peak efficiency
  • Recommend improvements in machinery, equipment, or manufacturing methods
  • Oversee compliance with all food safety regulations and employee safety requirements
  • Provide employee training based on job requirements
  • Conduct monthly inventory
  • Oversee cleaning in accordance with the cleaning and sanitation schedules
  • Inspect forklift drivers
  • Report safety problems to management
  • Duty to report illness or bodily fluid contamination that could impact manufacturing safety
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Awareness in role to ensure we meet SQF and other regulatory requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate degree preferred
  • 3+ years of supervision/management experience
  • Food production experience
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and other business software.
  • Preferred understanding on company policies, practices, & procedures
  • Mechanical knowledge is essential

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Forklift certification would be a plus

Work Environment

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
  • Continuous standing in one location for long periods (2-3 hours before break)

Shipping Supervisor

Job Purpose

The Shipping Supervisor of Hampton Farms is involved in the manufacture of food products intended for the consumer. Needs to have an overall understanding of receiving practices, shipping practices, loading / unloading material or product. They must know the location of each storage facility, inspection techniques, final product disposition, storage, proper packaging and labeling used at Hampton Farms. Being a producer of peanut butter, the supervisor is aware of risks involved with regard to proper packaging, unloading and loading techniques (not damaging product, raw material, or packaging supplies), proper storage, and forklift safety. Must maintain a clean and sanitary warehouse environment and must be familiar with the activity on the production floor to react if a crisis arises. In the event of the shipping supervisor’s absence, the shipping team lead will assume responsibilities of his or her daily duties or task.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage day to day duties of all employees in shipping and receiving department along with maintaining the scheduling of workers with vacations, PTO, leave time off.
  • Working with other Plant personnel in assuring all work is completed in timely manners.
  • Manage inbound freight (materials) such as Jars, Lids, Drums, Ingredients, etc) based on PO’s from the production planner/scheduler.
  • Coordinate transportation needs with internal companies such as Severn Peanut and Jimbos Jumbos.
  • Coordinate and arrange transportation for outbound loads in accordance with the delivery dates
  • Managing weekly trash removal services and coordinating random line hauls to the landfill with an outside contractor
  • Working with freight brokers and truck line carriers on a daily basis to ensure on time deliveries
  • Manage the warehouse inventory space and work in conjunction with the inventory controller to be sure the FIFO system is being used correctly with finished, unfinished, and inbound materials.
  • Oversee and work with the shipping team lead in helping with drivers/paperwork for both inbound and outbound loads
  • Handling claims and returns–working with Sales and customers as to damaged/incorrect product issues
  • Handle all telephone and email inquiries–Answering questions from Sales/load inquiries from carriers
  • Documenting- Entering data in spreadsheets or charts for weekly, monthly, and quarterly data.
  • Completing accident/incidents investigations and filling out all paperwork in conjunction with it.

Skills and Competencies:

  • GMP Training (New hire and Annual)
  • SOP’s for Receiving Program, Shipping Program, and Storage Program (Packaging Supplies, , Inventory Control, Stock Rotation, Raw Materials and Finished Product)
  • General knowledge of SSOP’s for all quality assurance areas and pieces of production equipment
  • Plant inspection program and pre-operational inspection programs
  • Be aware of warehouse programs (Shipping, receiving, and storage)
  • Knowledge of HACCP, SQF Edition 7.2 requirements
  • Ability to get certification of Food Safety & Sanitation courses
  • Ability to get certification of HACCP & advanced HACCP courses
  • Ability to take, complete courses for SQF practitioner
  • Able to participate in Food and Safety audits if needed
  • Must assist QA manager in anything ask to help with

  • Work with team members maintaining daily sanitation by cleaning work area at end of shift.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma (GED) or equivalent
  • Experience with food manufacturing
  • 3+ years of shipping experience
  • Supervisory role or experience required

Work Environment

  • Combination of manufacturing environment along with duties that will require employee to work in a production/plant environment where physical hazards such as industrial equipment and forklifts may be present.
