Job Summary

Jimbo’s Jumbos, Inc., a major division of Hampton Farms, located in Edenton, NC, is seeking an Oil Roast Raw Supervisor. This position will provide management, leadership, and supervision of the Oil Roast Raw department. This position is a key role in the Oil Roast plant leadership team and is also responsible for relieving the Specialty Nut & Coating Supervisor and Night Shift Oil Roast Supervisor when needed.

This position will report to the Oil Roast Plant Manager & Roasting Manager.

Scheduled Shift: 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Saturday. Sunday shifts may be required per production needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Oil Roast Raw Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Oil Roast Raw area, including receiving, production, warehouse management, sanitation, supervision, and plant and food safety.

  • Facilitate receiving and unloading of products into the raw warehouse, and bulk oil, ensuring proper documentation is completed and available, and all items are scanned into NetSuite.
  • Coordinate with Oil Roast plant leadership regarding production scheduling and product availability. Coordinate with Blanching and Receiving staff to ensure needed products is pulled or received.
  • Ensure lines are set up, staged, and staffed prior to production start. Ensure nuts are properly separated and transferred to designated lines and that lines are running correct product while upholding quality standards.
  • Work closely with Specialty Nut & Coating Supervisor to ensure specialty mixes are made to spec and the application process is correct. Fill in when needed.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of items in raw warehouse and notify Purchasing Manager when items need to be ordered.
  • Ensure warehouse remains orderly, organized, and clean, and all waste products are disposed of in an appropriate manner.
  • Ensure warehouse items are stored in proper locations both physically and virtually in Netsuite.
  • Ensure that the Oil Roast Raw department remains clean and sanitary, including floor scrubber operation and breakroom housekeeping.
  • Coordinate with the night shift sanitation supervisor regarding night shift cleaning needs. Fill in for the night shift sanitation supervisor when needed.
  • Ensure employees are following company policies and guidelines, including GMPs and safety.
  • Responsible for employee disciplinary action, evaluations, promotions, and day-to-day personnel matters.
  • Responsible for the training and development of employees, ensuring they are properly trained to do the job and coached to excel.
  • Take part in annual training of employees as defined in training program.
  • Communicate any Food Quality, Food Safety, or Personnel Safety issue to Management Team and/or Food Safety Team
  • Perform other duties as assigned by VP of Operations, Oil Roast Management, and QA Manager.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing required.
  • Food manufacturing leadership role preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Forklift Certification (preferred, must be obtained within 60 days of hire).

Work Environment

  • The Oil Roast Raw Supervisor will spend a primary portion of each shift on the production floor, which may have varying temperatures ranging from very hot to very cold depending on seasonal and operational conditions.
  • Includes some office work involving computer use and administrative tasks in a standard office environment.
  • May encounter moderate noise levels and other typical production facility conditions.

Required Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, crouching, bending, reaching, and lifting as necessary throughout a 12-hour shift.
    • Continuous standing in one location for long periods (2-3 hours before break).
    • Must be able to lift at least 55 lbs., repeatedly.
    • Climbing ladders and stairs to access mixing areas.
    • Ability to walk and stand in slippery environments (oil, water, slurry, ingredients).
  • Must be able to safely operate production equipment including forklift, bailer, chain hoist, mixer, conveyors, and elevators.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the role will be provided during new hire safety training to ensure compliance with safety standards.
