This position will be based at our Severn Peanut location in Portales, NM.
The Company
Severn Peanut along with Hampton Farms is the leading In-Shell Peanut Company in the US. We are also a leading producer of other types of nuts and nut butters for the retail and commercial markets. You can find our product in most grocery stores and major league baseball stadiums. We distribute under the Hampton Farms brand and are also a leading private label manufacturer.
Job Purpose
Maintain and repair all rolling stock used at the facility. Make general repairs to equipment and used in the procurement and drying of farmer stock.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee all mechanic shop activities and tasks.
- Ensure proper documentation of work orders and preventative maintenance performed.
- Inventory all tools /equipment and supplies to ensure security and preventative measure.
- Knowledge of diesel mechanics, such as john Deere tractors, Ottawa yard trucks.
- Forklift repair knowledge.
- General vehicle repair and maintenance
- Ability to adapt quickly to different situations and needs.
- Accepting of change
- Knowledge of minor electrical and small motor repair and maintenance
- General machinery repair and maintenance, forklift, loader, tractor,etc.
- Some basic knowledge of hydraulics maintenance and repair.

Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma (GED) or equivalent
- 4+ years of mechanic experience
- Experience working on tractors trucks, vehicles, forklifts, yard dogs, loader
- Mechanical knowledge experience
- Team Player
- Work well independently and on a team
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Mechanical certification would be a plus
Work Environment
- Must be able to work outside in the elements, overtime and weekends when necessary. Lifting, standing, sitting for long periods of time.
