Maintenance Lead

This position is based at our Ready Roast location in Madera, CA.

Ready Roast along with Hampton Farms is the leading In-Shell Peanut Company in the US.  We are also a leading producer of other types of nuts and nut butters for the retail and commercial markets.  You can find our product in most grocery stores and major league baseball stadiums.  We distribute under the Hampton Farms brand and are also a leading private label manufacturer.

Summary

The Maintenance Lead will lead the team to ensure Safety, Quality, and Performance objectives are met while directing technically skilled personnel through daily activities. The lead will be responsible for overseeing daily correspondence to the Maintenance Manager and Supervisor relating to critical items with information documenting cost and project timelines.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Understands, uses, and champions the computerized maintenance management system (maintainX) per established procedures
  • With direction from maintenance supervisor, coordinates the activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing plant mechanical, and electrical equipment, physical structures, grounds, and mobile equipment
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards as necessary
  • Communicates equipment status to Operations personnel before, during, and after the job
  • Trains other craftspeople in required best practices and procedures
  • Documents work performed on shift, work identified on shift, and work transferred to other shifts per established procedures
  • Identifies and documents appropriate spare parts to stock in storeroom
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts
  • Assist production in the initial start-up and shut down of equipment for
  • Troubleshoot and identify potential problems and takes corrective
  • Works evenings and weekends as
  • Ability to be on call for
  • Review and enforce the Company’s Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years maintenance experience, two of which in a lead or supervisory
  • Proficient in electrical and mechanical
  • Trade school/occupational training desired but not
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in Conversational Spanish is highly desired but not required.
  • Must be able to perform basic arithmetic and algebraic
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment, process problems, and propose Problem-solving skills are essential for this position.
  • Sound understanding of GMP’s, PC, HACCP, EMP, OSHA, and USDA regulations
  • A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through

Employee must be physically able to:

  • Stand and/or walk for up to 12-hour shift
  • Drive vehicles for up to 1 hour per day
  • Climb on a ladder or scaffolding to heights more than 10’, balance, and work above the shoulders frequently
  • Bend/stoop, kneel, crouch, and squat frequently for extended periods of time
  • Use both hands for frequent grasping and occasional fine manipulation and fingering
  • Frequently carry up to 50 pounds of weight distances of up to 600 feet
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds of weight from the floor to above the shoulders
  • Weights more than 50 pounds may need to be lifted between the floor and shoulders on rare occasions
  • Occasionally push various items, such as equipment, filters, motors, tools, pumps up to 75 pounds distances of up to 5’
  • Occasionally pull various items, such as compressors, tools and equipment up to 75 pounds distances of up to 35’.

  • Tolerate required personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, work gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, dust masks, safety belts and safety shoes on a continuous basis

Physical Demand

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand for long hours, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. All employees must wear ear protection at all times while in the plant.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is must be able to work in a plant environment being exposed to dust, high noise levels, extreme temperature and humidity fluctuations, dirty work conditions, fumes and odors from welding and other maintenance processes, poor lighting, and wet operation work conditions.
